Author of “Mass Deception: Moral Panic and the U.S. War on Iraq,” the critically acclaimed book on propaganda and war crime from Rutgers University Press (2010). Using quantitative analysis of public opinion polls and presidential rhetoric (direct quotes) pre- and post-9/11 in the news media, Bonn applies the controversial moral panic concept to the Iraq war. He critiques the war and occupation of Iraq as violations of domestic and international law.

Professor

Drew University Professor, Dr. Scott Bonn  is not your average academic.   Bonn teaches courses in criminology, sociology of deviance, media and crime, and criminal justice.

His primary research interests include white-collar crime, state crime, serial killers and media effects on society. His research examines how and why the public forms its beliefs on complex issues such as murder, domestic violence, capital punishment, war crime and terrorism.

Criminologist

What is a Criminologist?

A criminologist analyzes the criminal mind, organizes and examines patterns of criminal behavior, often with policy implications. They examine psychological and biological factors, social and  environmental factors such as the economy and education that influence crime patterns
and crime rates.

Criminologists also translate crime statistics into usable tools for the justice system and policy makers. By developing profiles of criminals and organizing statistics into meaningful patterns, a criminologist helps to develop strategies designed to help
prevent criminal behavior.
